The Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers 129-96 in game 5 at Boston Garden to win their eighth NBA title. The Celtics reached the finals by beating the Philadelphia 76ers 110-109 in game 7 at Boston Garden to win the Eastern Conference championship on April 15, 1966. The game-winning play was made with five seconds left by John Havlicek, with Celtics broadcaster screaming, “Havlicek stole the ball!” The phrase that becomes an integral part of Boston sports history.
